Missions have always been a significant part of
the life of the First Baptist Church Family. The great commission is a
serious cause among our members, which has been seen through our various
types of support. We hope to see you joining us soon in our efforts to
spread the message of Jesus Christ locally and across the globe.

Tim
and Erin Nehre
- Tim and Erin Nehre are in
their second year of teaching at ICAN (International Christian
Academy, Nagoya) in Nagoya, Japan. ICAN is part of NICS (Network of
International Christian Schools) similar to the ones where they
taught in Korea and Peru. The students in this K - 8 school
represent six continents. A few students are children of
missionaries while the majority are the children of business and
government workers who are stationed in the area.
Erin is teaching 7th and 8th grade students while Tim is working
with ESL (English as a Second Language) students. The Parent
English class is still being offered this year, and Tim is now
developing a new program. It will be an after school English class
for Japanese students who do not go to ICAN.
In addition, both Erin and Tim are involved with school sponsored
activities and outreach. They are also helping the school work
toward accreditation.

Camping is a vital part of our
region's ministry that is often seen as a missionary effort. Mid-American
Baptist Churches has two camp and conference facilities providing
opportunities for year-round programming for all ages in a Christian
atmosphere. Both sites are also available for local church rental. Click on
the "Church Camp" icon to the left to visit the camp website.

Kristy Engel uses her nursing
and education skills in working with the Good Samaritan Hospital in La
Romana, Dominican Republic. She provides medical services to Haitians who
are among the poorest in the country. She teaches children proper hygiene by
brushing her dog Kobe's teeth, bathing him, and brushing his coat. Kristy
also leads many American work teams in the Dominican Republic.
